There is no law that forces you into insuring property in Bulgaria. However, if you have raised money to buy the property on a mortgage, then the lender will require you to take out a Bulgaria property insurance policy to protect their interest until the loan is repaid. You will be required to name the mortgage company as a "loss payee" on your policy, which means that if the property is damaged and in need of repair or even a rebuild, the insurance payment will go to the loan company to cover the cost of repair or to pay off the loan.
